What this site is
Offender Map publishes a read-only, static snapshot of publicly available sex offender registry records for North Carolina, Florida, and Texas alongside school locations, so visitors can see registered addresses in relation to nearby schools. This site is an independent, unofficial project. It is not affiliated with, and is not endorsed by, any of the state agencies listed below or any other state agency.

School locations are sourced from the federal NCES public school directory for all three states. North Carolina additionally maps a state private-school directory and a national licensed child care center file.
What each state's map shows
Each state's registry publishes different information, and this site never shows a characterization a state didn't publish:

It is always labelled as TxDPS's finding (for example, “TxDPS risk: Low”), never restated as this site's judgement. A record TxDPS has not assessed shows nothing rather than an “unknown” label. |
How the map is built
Each usable registered address is assigned an approximate latitude/longitude using a validated street-address geocode where the Census Geocoder can match it, and a ZIP code centroid when it cannot. Street-address geocodes are interpolated along an address range, not verified rooftop or GPS coordinates. Administrative, transient, unknown, and out-of-state placeholder addresses are excluded from mapping rather than placed at a ZIP centroid. Records for people recorded as incarcerated, deported, absconded, deceased, or out of state are counted in the totals but not plotted on the map, because they are not at their last reported address and placing a pin there would assert something false about that address and whoever lives there now. "Nearby" offenders on a school page are calculated using straight-line (great-circle) distance from the school, not driving distance, and are limited to a 3-mile radius.
Update schedule
Each state's site — offender records, addresses, and county/school pages — is rebuilt from that state's registry on a weekly basis. Street-address and ZIP-centroid geocoding is refreshed incrementally during scheduled builds. The current snapshot's build time is shown at the top of the home page and on every county page.
Limitations & corrections
This site reproduces public records as published and may lag behind, omit, or mis-locate individual entries due to geocoding limitations, registry update timing, or data-entry issues in the source records. It should not be used as a substitute for the official registry. For the authoritative, current record on any individual, or to report an error in an official registration, use that state's official registry — linked in the table above — directly.
