No accounts, no user data collection
offendermap.com does not require registration or a login, and does not knowingly collect names, email addresses, or other personal information from visitors. The registry data displayed on this site is public government data about registered offenders (see About & Data Sources) — it is not information we collect about you, the visitor.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic, such as which pages are viewed and roughly how visitors reach the site. Google Analytics may set cookies and collect information such as your browser type, approximate location derived from IP address, and pages visited. This data is used only in aggregate to understand site usage; we do not use it to identify individual visitors. See Google's own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy for how Google handles this data.
Cookies
Aside from cookies set by Google Analytics, this site does not set its own cookies. You can block or clear cookies through your browser's settings; doing so will not affect your ability to browse the map or registry pages.
Address and map lookups
When you use Near an Address, the typed address is sent directly from your browser to the U.S. Census Geocoder. The address is not placed in the page URL or sent to this site's analytics. If you display a map, OpenStreetMap receives requests for map tiles covering the surrounding area. Using your current location requires browser permission; coordinates remain in page memory and are not added to the URL.
Third-party links
Pages on this site link to external sites, including each state's official registry — the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry (NCSBI), the Florida Sexual Offender and Predator Registry (FDLE), the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry (TxDPS), and the Georgia Sex Offender Registry (GBI), listed with links on the About & Data Sources page. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
